The Japanese Tosa Inu also known as Tosa Inu, Tosa Token or just Tosa is a fighting breed which originates from Japan and is a great working type dog which although was originally bred for dog fighting can be extremely docile and can make a great family pet or guard dog. The Tosa is large in stature and has a well defined muscle structure, it has a medium sized snout with long floppy ears and a short fine coat with a black nose. Its coat is a gingery tanned or fawn colour with some white markings on the chest area, there is also an all black version of the breed, but the gingery or tanned with the black mask is the type mostly favoured by breeders. The Tosa is also one of the four banned breeds in the U.K. as of the dangerous dog's act which passed in 1991. I think the Tosa is one of the best breeds of dog for a guarding and protection but can also make an extremely affectionate family pet. The Tosa is a medium to high energy dog and as such needs plenty of exercise and can sometimes be aggressive toward other dogs to prevent this it needs to be socialized from a young age with other dogs and small children. The Tosa responds well to discipline and rules but can be difficult to train if not trained from a young age.
