The Akita Inu or sometimes just called an Akita is a medium to large breed with a long thick coat that comes in a mixture of colours from white to a gingery colour to brown, grey or black. They have a fairly long snout and there ears are a medium size and come to a point at the top, there tails are very bushy and sometimes curl over. The Akita Inu comes from Japan and in its native Japan the breeders tend to favour the smaller breed of Akita as the standard, compared to America which favours the larger Akita as the breed standard. The Akita is a very good hunting dog as this is what they were mostly bred for and they are also adapted for extremely cold weathers and wound not have much problem living outside. The Akita makes a great family pet and guard dog but in some cases if not properly trained can be a handful.
