DOGUE DE BORDEAUX

Height 57-68cm

Weight 54-67kg

***** 5/5

The Dogue de Bordeaux or French mastiff is a very strong, large and well built dog with a short fine coat. The breed as we now no it originated sometime just after the 1920's in France in the region of Bordeaux, but one of the earliest recorded instances of the breed is when it won a dog show in France in 1836, Its colouring is a gingery tanned colour with sometimes white markings on the chest area, red nose and dark amber coloured eyes. The breed predominantly has an extremely saggy face with large jowls. Sometimes the bitch's nose is set further back in the face and the ears are long and end in a point, which fold over at the top of the head. The breed is even tempered with fairly low energy it is protective by nature and extremely devoted to its family.
