The English Bulldog, British Bulldog or sometimes just known as Bulldog, is a small and extremely stocky breed with a dominant character. Most of the time this breed is docile but if provoked or excited it can move very fast over a short distance. The appearance of this dog is that it is fairly short and extremely stocky, one of the stockiest for its size in fact, it has a very short curly tail, its coat is short and can vary from a mix of white to a light tanned colour and is known to have black parts on its mask, but always has a black nose, large jowls on its head and a scrunched up look on its face with medium floppy ears. These are extremely sort after dogs but due to allot of inbreeding by breeders, to keep the specific traits and appearance of the breed they tend to have a lot of health problems. English Bulldogs can make a very good pet for a family or guard dog, as they were originally bred for bull and bear baiting they can sometimes be very aggressive to other animals. The English Bulldog is one of the oldest original breeds of Bulldog in existence. The original Bulldog that all other bulldogs were bred from is today known as the Victorian Bulldog but the breed is now extinct, although breeders have now bred a Bulldog that is for the most part exactly the same as the original Victorian Bulldog and is now registered as such with kennel clubs world wide. |
